Umwelt, DogSight and CatSight (the “Apps”) are built privacy-first. The Apps are designed so that your camera frames and content never leave your device. This policy explains, plainly, what the Apps do and do not do with information.

The short version

No account, no sign-in, no profile. You do not tell us who you are.
All perception, detection and analysis run on your device.
We do not collect analytics, we do not track you, and there are no ads.
Camera frames are processed live on-device and are not uploaded or stored, except a cropped photo of a toy you choose to save.
We do not receive your payment information; purchases are handled by Apple.

Camera

The Apps use the camera to show you the live “pet’s-eye” view and to analyze objects in front of you. This processing happens entirely on your device, in real time. Camera frames are not recorded, uploaded, or sent to us or any third party.

Photos you save

When you deliberately save a toy, the App stores a cropped still image and the notes you add (a name, how your pet plays with it) locally on your device. This data stays on the device, is used only to show you your own saved toys, and is deleted when you delete the toy or the App.

On-device storage

The Apps keep your settings, your saved toys, and local usage counters (for example, how much free time or how many free imports remain) in on-device storage. These are used only to run the App on your device. Certain iOS programming interfaces the App relies on for this local storage are declared, per Apple’s required-reason API rules, in the App’s privacy manifest.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not see or store your payment details. Apple provides us only with the anonymous receipt needed to unlock the features you bought. Subscription management and cancellation are handled in your Apple account settings.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information. The Apps do not contain analytics or tracking SDKs, do not use advertising identifiers, and do not build a profile of you. Because there is no account and nothing is uploaded, we have no server-side record of you or your use of the Apps.

Children

The Apps do not collect personal information from anyone, including children. There is no sign-up and no data leaves the device.

Not veterinary advice

The vision simulations and visibility/findability figures are a scientific approximation for education and enrichment. They are not a medical or veterinary diagnosis. Consult a veterinarian about your animal’s health.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above.
